Cookie Policy
Cookie Policy (Belgium & the Netherlands)
What are cookies, really?
Cookies are tiny text files that websites drop onto your computer or phone when you visit. They're not scary. They don't eat your data for breakfast. They just help things run smoothly.
Why I use cookies
I keep it simple. I may use cookies to:
Make the website work properly (like remembering your preferences)
Understand roughly how many people visit and what they look at (so I can improve things)
I do not sell your data to advertisers. No tracking you across the internet for fun or profit.
What types of cookies I use
Strictly necessary cookies (always on)
These are the essential ones. Without them, the website might break or forget basic stuff. You can't turn these off because then things just wouldn't work right.
Analytics cookies (only with your permission)
These help me see what's working on my site, which pages people like, where they get stuck, that kind of thing. I may use [e.g., Google Analytics] and I keep the settings privacy-friendly.
I will only drop these cookies if you say yes.
Third-party cookies (maybe none)
If I embed a video (like from YouTube) or a map or a contact form, those services might set their own cookies. I keep these to a minimum. When in doubt, I don't embed.
Your consent under Belgian and Dutch law
Both Belgium and the Netherlands follow the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive. That means:
Strictly necessary cookies: No consent needed. They just do their job.
All other cookies (analytics, marketing, etc.): I need your clear permission before placing them.
That's why you'll see a cookie banner when you first visit. You can say yes, no, or change your mind later.
How long cookies stay
Session cookies: Disappear when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies: Stick around for a while (usually up to 30 days, sometimes longer) so I don't have to ask you every single time you visit.
How to manage or delete cookies
You're in control. Here's how:
Change your mind: You can withdraw your consent anytime by clearing your cookies or changing your browser settings.
Delete all cookies: Go into your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.) and clear browsing data.
Block cookies entirely: You can set your browser to refuse all cookies. Just know that some parts of my website might act a little weird afterward.
Here are links to the instructions for the most common browsers:
Do I need to update this policy?
If I change how I use cookies, I'll update this page and change the date below. I won't suddenly start spying on you.
